Safaath believes that it’s time to fight for women’s economic empowerment. She founded the first NGO in the Maldives to focus on economically empowering women, and the NGO has been instrumental in encouraging the government and businesses to consider broader female participation in their organisations.

Safaath spoke in the Special Session with Chief Executive of The Queen Elizabeth Diamond Jubilee Trust, Dr. Astrid Bonfield CBE, and fellow Queen’s Young Leaders from Sierra Leone and Canada.

This session took place at the 2016 One Young World Summit, the world’s premier forum for young leaders, in Ottawa, Canada. The Summit brought together 1,300 delegates from all 196 UN-recognised countries, empowering them to make lasting connections to create positive change.
